Much Ad Hoc magic arises from the most basic kinds of mutual support. One of those basics: “like” others’ FB pages and social media posts. This expands audience and exposure. For example, as we go into the 2017 Hyllningsfest year, please “like” the Svensk Hyllningsfest Facebook page if you have not already. And there are so many other pages that can use your support. Browse social media on a cold evening and see how you can connect.
In related news, the Lindsborg Ad Hoc Roundtable now has its own FB page, as it does a new blog on which News and Notes will be filed for easy viewing for the public or for later retrieval/reminders. www.lindsborgadhocroundtable.com Thanks, Megan Gallucci of American Family Insurance/Jay Jensen Agency for making it happen.
The Lindsborg Art Council's 23rd Annual Chocolate Lovers Affair is slated Sat., Feb. 11, at the Sundstrom Center. LAC raises money for scholarships for Smoky Valley students. The event includes gourmet chocolate tastings, entertainment, an art auction and the announcement of “Artist of the Year.” $20 at the door, 7 p.m. For part of the fun, LAC seeks donations of “experience” packages, which have proven quite popular at the auction. (What is an “experience” package? Classes, personal instruction, meals, parties for children and adults, special access and behind-the-scenes activities, family or group outings — or just a component to one of these that can be grouped with others.) If an organization would rather to donate cash to support an experience package, that option also is available. Or maybe something for the silent auction? Contact an LAC board member with questions: Molly Johnson, Kate Littich, Ann Samuelson, Erin Lundstrom, Becky Anderson, Christi Becker, Jenny Davis, Amy Dreier, JoelMai or Margaret Presley. (Chocolate Lovers committee members are boldfaced.) Thanks, all.
New Lindsborg residents Rick and Julie Bodenhamer are owners of the soon-to-be Rendezvous Adventure Outfitters, and both sat in on our most recent gathering. Their business will be outdoor clothing and equipment, and they have experience in retailing these items. Rick and Julie said they started coming through Lindsborg on their way to hiking trips to Lake Kanopolis seven years ago. After they recently new endeavors, instinct and experience drew them here. Thanks for choosing Lindsborg, Rick and Julie, both for living and working!
As a follow-on to welcoming Rendezvous Adventure Outfitters, we also brainstormed how we can acquaint ourselves/refresh our individual knowledge about premiere outdoor recreation opportunities in our own area. More birdwatching at McPherson Wetlands and Cheyenne Bottoms in Barton County. More cycling. More hiking and just generally getting outdoors. Younger audiences call this a must in any good travel experience, near or far. Outdoor adventure is a natural strength that Lindsborg can talk about more accurately — and, if we explore, more personally.
