You know spring is coming if:
• local exteriors are being spiffed up. We're admiring the freshness at Royal Flush Plumbing, Anderson Butik and Artshirt/Jalisco. Thanks so much!
• you're feeling the need to eat (or be!) a waffle. It's gonna be another wacky Lindsborg Våffeldagen on Saturday, March 25 -- complete with roaming Waffle People. Goes to show what happens when we feel confident enough to be a little silly on occasion. Våffeldagen began seven years ago as a celebration of one of Sweden's most popular food-related dates. Three volunteers dressed as waffles waved to amused/puzzled passersby on a street corner while hot waffles were served at one downtown eatery. Now Våffeldagen has people calling to confirm the date months in advance; it has stirred regional and national media. Seems to be the quirky fun they love. Thanks, Carla Wilson of Scott's Hometown Foods for getting us rolling seven years ago and thanks to everyone who'll be out and about on March 25. More details on food and fun options coming shortly. Also pls follow the Facebook page "Lindsborg Våffeldagen." #waffledaylbk
• it's time to vote in a KANSAS! Magazine poll. Nominations are being sought for favorite local places to eat statewide. Lindsborg's restaurants need your votes! C'mon, folks. Vote here now and ask your friends to vote, too: https://www.travelks.com/ks-mag/readers-choice/
• we're planning for Messiah Festival of Arts and Music. The full calendar of events is at www.messiah festival.org. The big and historic choral sound of Handel's Messiah. The 10-time Grammy winning vocal group Take 6 on the Presser Hall stage. The Midwest Art Exhibition and jazz performers on Main Street. The art exhibit called Lindsborg Collects. Theater performances and soloist workshops. Make plans to be part of it all, and expect your heart to soar.
Have a great weekend, everybody!
